On July 11, 1955, the most disastrous wreck in motorsport history occurred at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The wreck killed Mercedes driver Pierre Levegh, and over 80 spectators were killed when his car cleared the track and flew into the spectator stands. The cause was ultimately determined to be that the aging track was unsafe for faster, more modern cars, and countries across Europe temporarily banned motor racing so that tracks could be brought to a higher standard of safety.
This album is a marriage of my fascination with car culture and motorsport history, and my love of harsh noise.
