Notes
This is the first 2LP edition (a later enhanced 2 cd reissue exist, and is recommended).
This somewhat complex performance organizes as follow:
Disc 1:
- the five first tracks are Fitzgerald with her usual combo (a quartet here), the fourth being a duet (with Pass)
- then a formation advertised as the Chick Webb Orchestra kicks in with Fitzgerald for three cuts
- Fitzgerald is then showcased with Ellis Larkins for three duo cuts
Disc 2:
- the previously mentioned quartet (Pass, Betts, Waits, Flanagan) is back on the entirety of disc 2
- Fitzgerald is out on the 5 first tracks, which instead feature additional "stars" (namely Al Grey, Eddie Lockjaw Davis and Roy Eldridge), this formation being described as the "Jazz at Carnegie All-Stars". They take solo in that order: #1 Al Grey, #2 Davis, #3 Flanagan, #4 Eldridge
