U-Tech Dallas (formerly DiscUSA and Disctronics USA)
~ Pressing plant
Annotation
CD manufacturing plant in Plano, Texas, which became operational from 1987 through a joint venture between ElectroSound Group and the Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation.
1990 to 2003
On 02 March 1990 the plant was officially acquired by Disctronics Limited (as Disctronics Texas, Inc.).
Typically, discs from this period have "[MADE BY] DISCTRONICS USA", "DISCTRONICS TEXAS" or "DTI" stamped in the matrix and/or "Made by Disctronics Texas, Inc." elsewhere on the release.
2003 to 2008
In 2003, when Deluxe bought Disctronics UK/European operations, the US company started to operate separately under the name DiscUSA.
A typical CD matrix will contain a date (MM/DD/YY) and a DiscUSA logo. In rare cases the DiscUSA logo was replaced by DTI.
After 2008
In 2008 the plant was bought by U-Tech Media Corporation. It was renamed to U-Tech Dallas then.
Discs can be identified by "UT/TX" or "UT / TX" in the matrix.
A few years later the plant was shut down. Documented discs were manufactured until 2010.
SID Codes
Since 1994 discs from this plant can be identified by Mastering SID Codes IFPI L791, IFPI L792, IFPI L793 or IFPI L794.
Discs pressed in Plano have Mould SID Codes IFPI 2D**.
